The birthday weekend was spent in LA with cousins. Cousin David played sax with his trio at the Industry Cafe. We visited the Getty and the LA County Museum of Art along with two mornings wandering Manhattan Beach. It was a whirlwind and I caught a few images on the run that capture the feeling of LA. I want to share! First the Getty, a magical place with dramatic architecture and broad vistas through the smog. Special exhibit was LA artists from 1950 to 1960.

Happy New Year!

A huge thank you to all who supported us through the holidays! It was a magical, fast and furious month of December. But still not a drop of rain so we decided to completely reorganize the barn and back room of the studio with help from "Fancy"! Lots of 2012 glass projects in mind! We found some beautiful Wave Bowls in the archives that will make their way into the world this year. So we plan to respect the past and move on with the new.............Have a wonderful, peaceful 2012.

Holiday Open Studio Dec 17, 18 ~ 28, 29, 30

Two more days of making ornaments! Since we are "Home for the Holidays" and Matt will be working with us on his break from San Jose State, we will be open for encore demonstrations December 28, 29 and 30 ~ 10 to 4. Bring your visitors and family over for an adventure in the Foothills! We will be focusing on making our new sculpture. Then it's on to new experiences in 2012 ~ Beginning with shop maintenance, of course!

After a Long Day!

Glassblowing is very physical. You have to be in the right state of mind before beginning a piece. It takes total concentration and about two hours for Rick to work on a sculptural piece, along with the help of an assistant. You can see that he is not much help in the office, however!

Thanksgiving Weekend Open Studios

Happy day after Thanksgivng! We are grateful for all who came out to our studio for a wonderful day. Lots of favorite shoppers came out for their annual ornaments! Amara, our newest elf, helped all day while Matt made an outstanding goblet with the help of Lindsay and Rick hot sculpted a figure and a torso. First time he has been brave enough to sculpt in public! It takes intense concentration. We'll be blowing now every weekend up to Christmas so let the Holidays begin!
