Bring your visitors and family over for an adventure in the Foothills! We will be focusing on making our new sculpture. Then it's on to new experiences in 2012 ~ Beginning with shop maintenance, of course!

Afternoon Light

Another beautiful sunny, cold day! Great weather for our Open Studio - hot cider and hot glass. The afternoon light caught our Sunset Landscape Platter and it looked just like a sunset all by itself!

After a Long Day!

Glassblowing is very physical. You have to be in the right state of mind before beginning a piece. It takes total concentration and about two hours for Rick to work on a sculptural piece, along with the help of an assistant. You can see that he is not much help in the office, however!

Thanksgiving Weekend Open Studios

Happy day after Thanksgivng! We are grateful for all who came out to our studio for a wonderful day. Lots of favorite shoppers came out for their annual ornaments! Amara, our newest elf, helped all day while Matt made an outstanding goblet with the help of Lindsay and Rick hot sculpted a figure and a torso. First time he has been brave enough to sculpt in public! It takes intense concentration. We'll be blowing now every weekend up to Christmas so let the Holidays begin!

Thank You!

Thank you to all who supported the Autumn Art Studios Tour. It was a beautiful weekend! Matt was with us from San Jose State making his special delicate vessels while Roxie, the cat, supervised packing in the back room!

Autumn Art Studios Tour Preview

The Autumn Art Studios Tour Preview show looks great inside the old High Hand fruit packing shed. Not an easy one to set up, but the result is amazing. The old packing boxes add to the ambiance. High Hand Gallery has a new store front. Three local wineries just set up shop and a candle making store is almost complete. High Hand always has something new to discover. Many people walked through that hadn't heard about the tour while I was there so good connections were made!

Sushein 511

We created the pendants for this sushi restaurant in New York City -Sushein 511. They are similar teardrops to the ones we created for the DIY Network show, Yardcrashers. Sorry to be so far away! I love Sushi! Look for it if you are in NYC.

Time for Tours

It's the time of year for tours and what a beautiful Fall day today. We enjoyed the "Mystery Tour" from Sun City - I am sure some of them were surprised! And today the Mercedes Club. Beautiful cars filled our driveway!

OZ

We'll be showing at OZ through the end of the year. Stop in if you can! The Artwalk was a success on a wonderful Fall evening. Too busy to take photos. Michael and Mo Murphy brought their "Art Car" to Old Town and it was spectacular! I caught this photo of Rick at the end of the evening blending into the brick. He doesn't get out much!

Saint Peter's Cathedral

Exploring my desktop and thinking of Italy. This is perhaps the most beautiful stained glass window that I've seen. Saint Peter's Cathedral at the Vatican was massive and overwhelming but quite incredible. Amazing what all of that power and money can do....

Last Auburn Artwalk of the year is this Thursday October 13 - 6 to 9. We'll be featured in OZ Gallery, 198 Sacramento Street in Old Town through December. The Placer Arts Membership show is opening also. We have a large platter from our Nevada Series at Arts. And don't forget Old Town Gallery. Come check it out! It will be a beautiful evening!

Chandelier

Wow! Thanks to Matt's presence this weekend, we got the GIANT GLASS into the lehr! It will anneal and slowly cool. Next week it may become a chandelier!

Ohio

I had a wonderful visit to Ohio this summer with friends and family. My 40th High School reunion was so much fun! A lot has happened in 40 years. My brother, John and niece, Mindy have serene homesteads on a 10 acre lake north of Cincinnati. I loved spending time with their families. Sometimes I feel too far away, but love our own oasis here in Auburn too.

Matt helps us with a BIG one!

Matt came up for the weekend to help us with a couple of huge pieces that take his expertise and muscle to complete. Very exciting!
